Whangārei, New Zealand – More young Northlanders will have the opportunity to participate in sport thanks to a new partnership between Yovich & Co Wealth Management, CDL Group Ltd and ReSport Charitable Trust that will significantly strengthen the movement of donated sports equipment across the region.

Since launching in 2023, ReSport has collected more than 15,600 donated sportsitems and redistributed over 10,200 pieces of sports equipment toschools, clubs and community organisations across Northland. The charity hasalso repurposed more than 7,000 textiles, diverted 510kg of end-of-life sports gear into concrete manufacturing, and generated an estimated$1.2 million in economic value for Northland by reducing the cost ofparticipating in sport, keeping more money in the pockets of local families andextending the life of valuable sporting resources.

Thecollaboration reflects a growing movement of Northland businesses workingalongside community organisations to create practical solutions that deliverlasting social, environmental and economic value. By combining communityinvestment, business expertise and shared purpose, the partnership will help ReSport reach more schools, clubs and whānau, particularly in rural andhigh-needs communities where access to sporting equipment remains a barrier.

Undera newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, Yovich & Co WealthManagement has committed a three-year community investment of $15,000to support transport costs, while CDL Group Ltd has donated a pre-lovedvan that will enable ReSport to collect and redistribute quality sportsequipment from collection points across Northland.

Together, the partnership demonstrates how businesses can work alongside the community sector to deliver measurable outcomes. By extending the life of both sports equipment and a pre-loved vehicle, the initiative embraces circular economy principles, reduces waste and creates greater opportunities for Tamariki and rangatahi to experience the lifelong benefits of sport.

Jarrod Goodall, Director of Yovich & Co WealthManagement, said supporting ReSport reflects the company’slong-standing commitment to Northland communities.

“As a business that has been part of Northland fornearly 60 years, we believe it is important to support initiatives that make areal difference locally.”

“Sport has had a very positive impact on my ownlife, so being involved with ReSport is a meaningful way for us to give back and help more young Northlanders enjoy those same opportunities.”

Joey Yovich, Regional Sport Connector at SportNorthland and Co-founder of ReSport Charitable Trust, said the partnership represents what is possible when local businesses andcommunity organisations work together with a shared purpose.

"ReSport was founded on a simple belief:quality sporting equipment should create opportunities, not end up in landfill. We're incredibly grateful to Yovich & Co Wealth Management and CDL Groupfor investing in our vision and helping remove barriers so more Northlanderscan experience the lifelong benefits of sport."

JP Dignon, Chief Executive of CDL Group Ltd and Co-founder of ReSport Charitable Trust, said thepartnership comes at a pivotal time in ReSport’s growth.

“ReSport’s growth over the past three years has een incredible, but it’s also highlighted a real challenge: reaching high-needs communities outside Whangārei. Donating this van means we can moveessential gear from collection points directly into schools, clubs and whanau who need it most.”

He said the additional transport capability wouldallow ReSport to scale its impact across Te Tai Tokerau.

“ReSport has spent three years proving what’spossible when communities have access to the right gear. The next step isreaching further north and deeper into rural pockets. This van helps us do thatin a practical, immediate way.”

The partnership will:

·       Increase the movement of donated sportsequipment from Auckland and throughout Northland to schools, clubs andcommunity organisations.

·       Expand access to sport for Tamariki and rangatahi living in rural and high-needs communities.

·       Extend the life of quality sportsequipment and a pre-loved vehicle, reducing waste and supporting circulareconomy outcomes.

·       Demonstrate how businesses andcommunity organisations can work together to deliver practical, long-termcommunity impact.

·       Build a more connected and equitablesporting ecosystem across Northland.

Together, Yovich & Co Wealth Management, CDLGroup Ltd and ReSport Charitable Trust are demonstrating how local businesses, and community organisations can work together to remove barriers toparticipation, strengthen the circular economy and create lasting opportunitiesfor young Northlanders.
